I’m due end of august and my daughter will be just over 2 years old at that point. I’m torn on if I should get a double stroller or try to have my 2 year old start using the kickstand/ stroller board for her while I stroll the newborn (and baby wear and let her use stroller sometimes)
I’m in a third floor walk up. I carry my stroller down every day. And we go out a lot. Park. Gardens. Playgrounds. We walk around a lot.
I would love to avoid a double stroller but is it inevitable?
And if so what is the double stroller recommendation for city moms?
What are other Brooklyn/NYC moms of two doing? Particularly those on higher floors with no elevators…
Thank you!

I think it also depends on the kid. My first was still taking regular stroller naps when my baby was born (older was 2.5). We had a vista, which would’ve been way too heavy to carry up and down steps along with the kids(we were on the 5th floor of an elevator bldg in queens). I think pp’s suggestion of a carrier for the baby and stroller for big kid is a good one for shorter trips. It might be tougher for a longer outing, though

@empea3,
yeah it does seem crazy to try to make a double stroller work in a walk up! They seems so huge and heavy!

@birdbb,
the many () times the elevator was out, I’d have to leave the stroller downstairs. I’d imagine there are lighter-weight doubles, but the uppababy is kind of a tank for city streets / trunk space

single stroller with stroller board! my kids are 21 months apart and i bought the lightest double stroller but still too much to carry up stairs if no elevator at the subway. We used it 3 times and now I am selling it as we got a stroller board for the single stroller and it works better for us since we live in apartment.

I had two under 2 in a walk up and used a light weight single stroller and carrier primarily the first year. If my husband was coming we would take two single strollers. I also had a double stroller but kept that in the car for when we went places like the zoo.

@NYCMaMa,
thanks for the reply. Was definitely hoping to hear what other moms in walk ups were doing! I think carrier and stroller does make sense for the first year!
