1, 2013 in a local hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be Friday, Jan 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will speak to visitors after the service. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park, Illinois.

Mr. Dixon was born in Chicago, the son of the late William and Amanda Wick Dixon. He served in the US Army in the South Pacific during WWII. Mr. Dixon Was Past Master of OBITUARIES Mullins, SC, a son of the late Mason Hartstene and Annie Rast Hubbard.

He graduated Florence Fligh School and attended the University of South Carolina. Mr. Hubbard was inducted into the United States Army in 1941, and served in the Third Armored Spearhead Division during World War II. His division participated in the Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. They also liberated the prisoners at the Nordhausen Concentration Camp.

A decorated soldier, he was the recipient of five Bronze Battle Stars, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3181, and past member of the American Legion, Post 1. Mr. Hubbard, along with his brother, Mason H. Hubbard, was the founder and operator of Hubbard's Cleaners for forty-three years before retiring in 1990.

He was a member of First Baptist Church for 82 years. He was also an avid golfer and past member of the Florence Country Club. He was also a member of the Tri-County Seniors League. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Florence Miller Hubbard; and his brother, Mason H. Hubbard, Jr.

Survivors include his daughter, Judith H. "Judy" (Robert) Young of Florence; his son, Dr. Charles R. (Denise) Hubbard, of Columbia; four grandchildren, Ashley Young (Erik) Norton of Columbia, Dr. Curtis Robert "Robbie" Young, III, of Boston, Jennifer Rebecca Hubbard and Caroline Elizabeth Hubbard, both of Columbia; four greatgrandchildren, Sara Tison Norton, Anna Miller Norton, Margaret Helen Norton and Charles Hubbard Norton, all of Columbia; sister-in-law, Bernice C.

Friday, January 4, 2012 at Cumberland United Methodist Church, Florence. Burial will follow in the Mayesville Cemetery, Mayesville, SC. He died on Friday, December 28, 2012 in a local hospital after an illness. Rev. Bradley, Jr.

was born August 15, 1934 in Mayesville, SC to the late Rev. James Monroe Bradley, Sr. and Mrs. Viola Wilson Bradley. He received his formal education in the Sumter County School District and graduated from the Mayesville Institute in Mayesville.

He continued his studies at Morris College, Sumter, SC for a year. He later transferred to Claftin University in Orangeburg, SC where he graduated with an A. B. degree in Religion Education. Afterwards, he went to Gammon Theological Seminary, Atlanta, GA and received his Masters of Divinity.

Rev. Bradley holds a PH.D. degree in Religion from Drew University in New Jersey. In 1964, Rev. Bradley was the youngest appointed District Superintendent for the S.

C. United Methodist Conference. Also in 1965, he was a delegate from South Carolina United Methodist Conference in Europe, whereby he travelled to London, England, Paris, France, Rome, Italy and Venice. THURSDAY, JANUARY 3, 2013 5A Rev. Bradley served as a United Methodist minister for 42 years in the state of South Carolina.

Mark U.M. Church and St. Matthew Church, Taylor, SC; Wesley U.M. Church, Hopewell U.M. Church, Cedar Grove U.M.

Church, St. James U.M. Church of the York St. James Charge, York, SC. He was united in marriage for 54 years to Nellie Chambers Bradley of Cheraw, SC and to this union two children were born.

His daughter Rosemary Nell Bradley preceded him: in death and his son, James Monroe Bradley III, a retired police officer for the Columbia City Police Department of the home. He. also leaves: four nephews, Allen I. (Carol) Richburg III of Ladson, SC; Stefan R. (Alexandra) Richburg of Middletown, DE; Ret.

Norton died Monday, December 31, 2012 following a lengthy illness. Born in Mullins, he was the eldest son of the late James Edgar and Bertha Mae Ard Norton. He was a Naval Aviator and Flight Training Instructor during WWII stationed at Pensacola, FL and the Philippines. After returning from war, he married the love of his life, Sara Sarratt of Gaffney, SC. His younger sisters still claim responsibility for bringing the two of them together, as well they should.

Sara and Jim remained steadfast to one another through 65 years of marriage. Second only to his love of family was his love for Mullins and the Little Pee Dee River and everything the town and river offered. He was an avid fisherman and noted storyteller whose ability to craft a tale influenced both young and old around him. Stories of Mullins and his exploits as a child painted vivid pictures of a simpler time gone by and a family life rich beyond compare. The River provided the setting for many of his best stories and happiest childhood memories.

He graduated from USC with a degree in Civil Engineering and his entire career was spent in this field. He was an amazingly faithful manager in both his business dealings and his personal life which both his employees and family can attest to. He was fair in his dealings, a man of his word and a man of true character. Jim was a 32 degree Mason with the Columbia Lodge York Rite, and the Omar Shrine Temple. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church, Irmo.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Sara; daughter, Barbara Otteson (James) of Owatonna, MN; son, James E. "Chip" Norton III of Louisville, KY; dren, Jessamy Almquist (Zack), Elizabeth Otteson, Kari Munro (Devon), Paul Otteson (Natasha) and Annelise Lucas (Donnie); great-grandchildren, Dane, Gracie, Logan, Jorun, and Jake; sisters, Mildred Rogers (Charles) and Nancy Poston Jerry), both of Columbia; and brother, Johnny L. Norton (Ellwyn) of Hemingway. He was predeceased by his brothers, Rev. Hal Norton and Billy Norton; and sisters, Marjorie Seale, Tina Martin, Verna Bozardt.

She attended the public schools of Florence County and was formerly employed as a Maintenance Technician at the Federal Building in Florence, SC. Martha was a lifelong member of New Zion Baptist Church Timmonsville, SC where she served faithfully on the Senior Choir and Missionary Society until her health declined. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny McKithen; a son, Robert McKithen; and four siblings, Clarence Coleman, Mae Gibbs, George Coleman and Hubert Coleman.
