A24 has a long list of movies lined up for 2025, starting with Opus, which will hit theaters on March 14. With its immense popularity in the indie movie scene, more mainstream artists are eager to collaborate with A24. It was primarily a film distribution company but later ventured into production with the Oscar-winning film Moonlight.
More recently, the studio is known for critically acclaimed films like MaXXXine, Sing Sing, A Different Man, We Live in Time, Heretic, Queer, The Brutalist, and Babygirl. The Oscar-winning film Everything Everywhere All at Once is the highest-grossing film from the studio.

A24 has already been involved in two movies this year. The studio distributed the Italy-France co-production Parthenope in the United States. It also produced the film On Becoming a Guinea Fowl, which was released in March. Here are all the upcoming films from the studio:
1 Opus

Opus is the directorial debut of Mark Anthony Green and stars an ensemble cast including Ayo Edebiri, John Malkovich, Juliette Lewis, Murray Bartlett, Amber Midthunder, Tatanka Means, and others. The horror musical features original music written by Nile Rodgers and The-Dream.

He is co-writing and co-directing Warfare with Ray Mendoza, a former U.S. Navy SEAL. Earlier, Mendoza served as the military supervisor for the film Civil War.
The story is based on Mendoza’s experiences during the Iraq War. Canadian actor D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai will play the role of Mendoza. Joining him is an ensemble cast including Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, Noah Centineo, and Charles Melton. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 25, 2025.
5 Friendship

Craig Waterman’s life changes when he falls for his charismatic new neighbor, Austin Carmichael. Tim Robinson plays Craig, while Paul Rudd plays Austin in his second collaboration with A24 this year. 7 Materialists

Lucy’s matchmaking expertise is highly sought after in New York City, but when it comes to her personal life, she is torn between her perfect match and her imperfect ex. Chalamet is also a co-producer of the film. Besides Chalamet, the film features an ensemble cast including Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler, the Creator, Odessa A’zion, Penn Jillette, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher. It is the studio’s most expensive film at $70 million, surpassing last year’s Civil War (via Deadline). It will be released in theaters on December 25, 2025.
9 André Is an Idiot

André Is an Idiot is a bold attempt from Tony Benna, who documents the last few years of André Ricciardi’s life. Ricciardi was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. The title is a reference to Ricciardi’s mother’s quote, who learned that he was sick because he didn’t get a colonoscopy and shared, “What a f**king idiot.”
While the tone of the film is kept light, the documentary gets sadder as each year passes by and Ricciardi’s chemo becomes less and less effective. A24‘s description of the movie read, “His sobering diagnosis, complete irreverence, and insatiable curiosity, send him on an unexpected journey learning how to die happily and ridiculously without losing his sense of humor.”
10 Architecton

A24 financed Russian director Victor Kossakovsky’s architecture-based documentary film Architecton and will distribute the film in North America. According to Variety, the film is “an epic, intimate and poetic meditation on architecture and how the design and construction of buildings from the ancient past reveal our destruction — and offer hope for survival and a way forward.”
Architecton competed at the Berlinale International Film Festival in 2024. Ben Bernhard handles the film’s brilliant cinematography. It is the twelfth feature film from Kossakovsky, whose earlier film Gunda played in Berlinale Encounters in 2020.

The Drama is a romance comedy-drama starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson in the lead roles. Licorice Pizza‘s Alana Haim and Mamoudou Athie are the other cast members. Kristoffer Borgli, who directed the critically acclaimed film Dream Scenario for A24, is directing this film.
The filming began in October 2024 in the UK and concluded in December 2024. Filmmakers Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone will produce the film via Square Peg. A24 and Square Peg are also collaborating on Death of a Unicorn and Eddington this year.
12 Eddington

Eddington is Ari Aster’s highly anticipated ensemble film, starring acting powerhouses like Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler. Last month, Variety reported that the film has entered post-production and will potentially make its debut at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film’s plot reportedly revolves around a small-town sheriff in New Mexico, played by Phoenix, who has ambitious dreams. However, fans think that Ari Aster has packed more than this simple plotline in his film, given that his filmography includes Hereditary and Midsommar.
13 Eternity

Irish filmmaker David Freyne has tapped Elizabeth Olsen, Callum Turner, Miles Teller, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph for his new film Eternity. Pat Cunnane penned the script, which was placed on The Black List as one of the Best Unproduced Screenplays of 2022.
In the film, the characters get one week to choose where to spend their eternity after death. It’s a question for Olsen’s Joan, Teller’s Larry, and Turner’s Luke about who to spend their eternity with. The filming began in May 2024 and wrapped in July 2024.

16 Mother Mary

The Green Knight fame David Lowery helms this musical drama film, starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Cole. It follows the relationship between a musician and a fashion designer, with Hathaway taking on the titular role. The film also stars Hunter Schafer, Jessica Brown Findlay, Sian Clifford, and FKA Twigs.
Mother Mary will focus on the music and has hired Daniel Hart to compose the film’s score. Musicians Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX will be providing original songs for the movies. The filming began in May 2023 and wrapped up in July 2024.
17 Pillion

Emmy and Golden Globe winner Alexander Skarsgård will join forces with Harry Potter star Harry Melling in this bike gang comedic romance. 18 The Smashing Machine

Dwayne Johnson is taking on the role of UFC wrestler Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine. The film is written and directed by Uncut Gems fame Benny Safdie in a solo venture for A24. He will also reunite with his Jungle Cruise co-star, Emily Blunt, in this film. Fans are so far impressed with the developments in the film, including Johnson’s new unrecognizable look.
Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions acquired the rights for Safdie’s script in 2019, and the two have been collaborating on the project ever since. Safdie’s Out for the Count banner will also be producing the film alongside Seven Bucks. Mark Kerr was popular among the fans during the no-holds-barred era of UFC and won several titles besides the UFC championship.
Besides telling the story of Kerr inside the ring, The Smashing Machine will also tell his struggle with addiction, love, and friendship. Noah Sacco of A24 told Deadline last year that Johnson and Safdie’s “shared vision for Mark’s inspiring story is electrifying.” He added that the studio has full trust in the actor and director.
19 Sorry, Baby

Billions star Eva Victor helms this self-starring independent film. Sorry, Baby premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and will be released in the U.S. this year. The story about a college professor recovering from a s*xual assault has already earned critical acclaim at Sundance.
