A series of strange murders sends shivers through a quiet New England town. It's up to a hard-as-nails police chief, Jesse Stone (Tom Selleck), to find the psychopath behind the savage crimes. Previously a homicide detective in Los Angeles, the hard-drinking Stone has the credentials to track down the serial killer. The case takes an even more sinister turn when a teenage girl is raped, and Stone realizes that catching the killer will not be so easy.

Jesse Stone is a former L.A. homicide detective who left behind the big city and an ex-wife to become the police chief of the quiet New England fishing town of Paradise. Stone's old habits die hard as he continues to indulge his two favorite things: Scotch whiskey and women. After a series of murders—the first ever in Paradise—and a high school girl is raped, he's forced to face his own demons in order to solve the crimes.

Continuing to excel in TV movie roles, Tom Selleck brings an easygoing charm to this surprisingly well-crafted crime yarn, whose bare-bones plot provides the framework for a crackling-good drama. Based on the Robert B. Parker novels, "Stone Cold" is so smoothly put together it's not much of a stretch to foresee it becoming a series of movies or even an episodic drama.

This story is solid and interesting, but the woman lawyer is awful and Jesse falls for every “ skirt”. The Jesse Stone cop is great, but clean up his behavior.
